My name is Tom Daniels. I’m a graduate of The Evergreen State College and SUNY Buffalo. That got me to being a PhD, and helped fund a nice little homestead in Wisconsin. I’ve been an amateur woodworker for 20+ years. When I was living in Madison, I raced on lake Mendota twice a week with my longtime captain and friend, Bob Beilman. I’ve worked as a psychologist in private practice for the past 14 years, mostly with kids and families.Nowadays I’m living in Newport RI, going to school for boat restoration, and generally hanging out doing things with wood all day long.
I’ve been blessed with some of the most amazing friends back in Madison and I miss them like crazy. Otherwise, I’m a very lucky guy.

I am building a replica of the “Little Juliana”, a steam launch built by Col. John Stevens in 1804 (before Fulton). The replica engine is complete and running. I now need a “Manhattan built” Whitehall hull of 22′. The engine will be on display & running next weekend at Cabin Fever Engineering Show, York, PA. (914) 666-4195
Please contact me, Thanks, Carl Kriegeskotte

Since you are into steam and boats try to find a book that I ran across titled “Poor John Fitch” I think you will enjoy it. He was the first (before Fulton) to get a steam powered boat to run upstream against the current. Not many people know about him.
